Scientist in the Classroom and Field Trip

We had a fantastic morning learning all about plants and photosynthesis.  Scientist in the Classroom Penny was our guest and she had us dissect a flower to show the different parts, took us through an experiment that showed how photosynthesis occurred, stations that taught us all about plants, and even showed us how they recycle paper!!

We are very excited for our field trip to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park tomorrow, and we’re sure it will be a fantastic day of learning!  It is forecast to be a beautiful day, with a day-time high of 25ºC.  Students will be outside for most of the day, travelling around the park.  With this in mind, please send your child with:
-       a backpack
-       light layers that can easily be removed and packed away inside a backpack.  It will likely be cooler in the morning and warm up as the day goes on.
-       a lunch and at least one snack.  We will be stopping to eat lunch while we are on our hike, so it would be appreciated if lunches can be as close to zero-waste as possible.
-       plenty of water (water would be recommended over juice or pop)
-       a wide-brimmed hat
-       sunscreen
-       bug spray
-       comfortable walking shoes (please no sandals or flip-flops)

Thank you in advance for your help in making our field trip a success.  If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Also, there are a few students who have not yet returned their field trip form.  This will need to be handed in first thing tomorrow morning in order for students to be able to go on the trip.  If you need a new form for your child, please contact me as soon as possible and I will make sure to send a new one home

Important Dates and Reminders:
- Tomorrow is the field trip to Glenbow Ranch
