Happy Holidays!! We have had a busy week in Room 106!! We made some super secret presents, did some work on our Genius Hour projects, and learned about Storyboarding. We have also had the great pleasure of watching the dances that everyone has been working so hard on during Creative Movement. Today was our turn!! The Xylo Club also performed today. 2017 has been wonderful and I can't wait to continue working with you and your child in 2018!! I hope that you have a restful, relaxing, and fun-filled break! See you on January 8th, 2018 :).

It's Friday!! Here is the web that we constructed to help us write our Home Journals: Here are some things that the students wanted me to share on our classroom blog: The Social Studies Alberta Road Trips We finished up our Social Studies project this week. Students put together posters about their road trip and then shared their learning through an oral presentation. Mr. Barker will be passing on some feedback about the projects. The French Plays To give students a chance to practice their speaking, as well as to learn some winter themed vocabulary, they put together some little plays about what snowmen might do in the winter, "L'hiver de bonhommes de neige". One of the requirements is to put all of the stops of their road trip on to a map of Alberta. Here they are working on putting information from the big map, on to the little map: We also went to visit our Kindergarten Buddies and helped them fill out some surveys about what makes them unique. In Math we have been continuing to analyze the data from our attendance "Would you rather ..." questions by compiling them into pie graphs and writing the corresponding fractions. We also spent time this week doing some problem solving with the "3-Act Problems" where we practiced our "I see ...", "I think ...", and "I wonder". In Science Mr. Barker taught us about the idea of "force". Ask your child about that exper...
