I hope that you have had a chance to check out our first blog posts on Weebly!  There will be another Week in Review coming up tomorrow!  If you are having any problems accessing the site, please do not hesitate to let me know.

There have been lots of fun activities happening in the classroom.  We have been learning about conventions (sentence structure, capitalization, commas, apostrophes, and quotation marks), we started our unit on "Building Things That Move" by doing some coding, and we had an awesome presentation from Canadian singer/songwriter Michael Mitchell.  Please check out the classroom Twitter feed to see some pictures and videos:

I have been asked a few times if I could send extra homework for Humanities and Math.  If you are interested in having your child do extra work at home, here are some websites that you can look at and use:
http://www.2learn.ca/kids/ (an excellent website based on the Alberta curriculum with practice in every strand)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z3c6tfr (practice for keyboarding skills)
https://ca.ixl.com/ (all students have been set up with an account that can be accessed from home)

Reminders and Important Upcoming Dates:
- Tomorrow is our trip to Simon Fraser Middle School.  We will be leaving the school at 11:30, and returning at 2:15.  Simon Fraser will be providing a hot dog lunch, but some students have indicated that they would prefer to bring their own lunch.  Please check with your child and send a lunch to school with them tomorrow, if needed.
- We will do our regular Home Reading book exchange tomorrow
- Learning Commons book exchange will be on Friday since we are away tomorrow afternoon.
- We are doing Alien In-Line skating today, tomorrow, and Friday.  Students are welcome to bring their own equipment (helmet, pads)
- We are still looking for volunteers for our field trip on April 17th.  You will need to have volunteer clearance, and due to space restrictions on the bus, you will need to be able to drive to the site.
