Reminders

There are a couple of things happening tomorrow (Friday October 13th):

- We will be doing Home Journals, if you haven't had a chance to read and comment on your child's journal from last week, please do that tonight and send it to school with them.

- It is Fun Lunch tomorrow for those students who have ordered it.

- It is our first Spirit Day.  Students are welcome to wear a sports jersey to school.

Upcoming Dates:

- Monday October 16th - Professional Development Day - no school for students
- Tuesday October 17th - Book orders are due
- Wednesday October 18th - Picture Day (please return the forms that went home before this date)
- Tuesday October 31st is Halloween

We are continuing to collect jackets for the Jacket Racket.

Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming!

We are going swimming and forms are coming home today! We will be going June 11-14th, 18th, and 19th.  We will leave the school at 9:20 am and will return around 11:15 am.  Please fill out the regular field trip forms, as well as the Swimming Ability form for your child, and return to the school by this Friday, June 1st.   We will also need two volunteers for the trip.  If you are available for some, or all, of the days, and have your volunteer clearance, please email me at clwillis@cbe.ab.ca. Other Important Dates for this Week: - Drum Fit will continue all this week with Mrs. Buonomo and Mrs. Fraser. - Regular book exchange will be this Thursday (last day to take out books from the Learning Commons is June 8th) - Friday June 1st - Swimming field trip forms are due - Friday June 1st - Scholastic Book Orders are due (this will be the final book order of the school year). These are some of the things that we have been working on in Room 106 ... Humanities We finished off persuasive essays by looking at the topic of the three best ways that the First Nations used the land sustainably.  We are now looking at biographies.  Students are looking at Canadian Olympic Snowboarder Mark McMorris as an introduction to how to write a biography.  Later on, students will be researching an individual who was/is important to Alberta and will write that individual's biography.  If you are looking to get a head start on this project, the Mavericks website through the Glenbow Museum is excellent! http://www.glenbow.org/mavericks/ Math Mr. Barker has been teaching us about some helpful multiplication strategies, including doubling and halving and friendly numbers.  In grade 4, the expectation is that students should be comfortable with basic facts up to the 9 x tables (we have also gone over the 10 x tables).  Students should als...
