Highlights
- In Humanities we have finished up our Wacky Web Tales and have started reading the book "Fatty Legs", which is the true story of an eight year old Inuit girl's experience at a residential school. We will be examining the book from the different perspectives of the characters. We are also continuing our work around the geographic regions of Alberta. Students have done infographics for the Canadian Shield and Boreal Forest, and are now looking at the Parkland.
- In Math we are continuing to look at rounding as a form of estimating and mental math. In Grade 4, students should know how to round to the nearest ten thousands place. Students will do a quick Take 5 on Thursday to see how well they are understanding these concepts.
- We have been making comic strips in French to demonstrate our understanding of greetings. Any students who were not finished after yesterday's class should have brought it home for homework. The comic strips will be due tomorrow morning, as we are moving on to the alphabet. Students have also started setting up accounts on Duolingo, so that they can practice French at home or at school. - Today we buddied up with Mrs. Walz's kindergarten class to help them with a shape hunt. The Grade 4's were excellent role models and ambassadors for the kindergarteners!
- Students will start to bring home their home reading over the next few days. There will be a letter in their folder explaining how the program will work.
- There are notices coming home today about an exciting partnership with the Calgary Public Library, as well as information about Picture Day.
Reminders:
- Thursday is our Learning Commons day.
- If you have not already done so, please take a minute to read and comment on your child's Home Journal and send it back to school. Students will need them for Friday.
